El Fogon Costeno Restaurant is located just off the Myrtle Wyckoff M and L stop. For anyone that likes Latin food with a Latin experience, it is worth a trip up to Queens. This family owned restaurant itself is small, but they have a large delivery fan base. I’ve eaten there and had delivery from them, and both experiences have been overwhelmingly positive.

They begin each meal by giving you complimentary South American fried corn kernels. They are a good start and taste great with a Corona.

Whatever you do, go for the platter as your main meal. They are shareable between two people because the portion size is large. They have everything on the menu, including tripe. Thanks to Ornella Trattoria, I know that I like tripe, so I made sure that was included on my platter.

I personally am not a huge fan of maize, but that is ok. My buddy did not like tripe, so it was a fair trade off. But the tripe stew had a very filling sauce that went well with the rice when mixed. And the pork? I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Hispanic restaurant and not liked a roasted pork. They always cook the pork to perfection, and it is always tender to eat. El Fogon Costeno is absolutely no exception to this. Their roast pork is amazing.

If you do opt for delivery, their delivery is the fastest I’ve had on Seamless. In fact, the delivery driver was at my door faster than my Seamless text message telling me my order was on its way! Now that is fast!

El Fogon Costeno is the best Spanish food in Queens so far, at least in Ridgewood and as far as South American goes.
