On an overlooked, winding road in Chinatown, you will find the best noodles in the area. Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles is located on Doyer Street, which is a street famous for being in the movie Gangs of New York.
Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles lives up to its name in that the noodles are just that-tasty. They also happened to be hand pulled, and you can see the chef stretch the noodles when you order takeout or eat in.
The seafood fried noodles had very little sauce to them, yet they were full of flavor. They were not oily, so they were easy to twist around your fork, for those of us who are chopstick challenged. Unlike many other restaurants, Tasty Hand Pulled Noodle was extremely generous with their seafood portions, which included fish balls, shrimp, crab, and octopus. The portions are large, and I had enough to take home. They have water at each table that you can help yourself to. No need to drink anymore, although they offer typical soft drinks.
The area is small. There are perhaps four or five small tables besides the take out counter. If you can find a spot, it is your lucky day. If you cannot, you will have to stand in line outside. A line is usually meant for tourists, but in this case, a lot of New Yorkers in the know of the best noodles will be keen on waiting in line. You know this place is worth it!
The service is brisk. They will not coddle you. You get what you want though. But if you are one of those who like to be checked up on every five minutes, this place will not be for you.
